Maria Knee, Kindergarten teacher at Deerfield’s Community School, has developed a comprehensive classroom blog featuring student work.  There is a link for each student in her class to demonstrate their work in her classroom.

Below is a video of her keynote speech at the Sakai summer institute this past summer.  She is a great example of how someone “does this” locally.

I had an opportunity to hear Maria speak today at the CMTC! She shared many ideas and activities she uses in her classroom with her students. It was incredible to see her students so engaged in their learning. It was quite impressive! Debbie

I’m so glad you enjoyed your time there. I’d love to hear more about your day. Perhaps you’d be willing to share a take away or two at our faculty meeting on Thursday morning.

I met Marie years ago while getting my nails done ( big smile) of course we chatted about school and she shared with me their Kindergarten Staggered Start program!
Loving this initiative, I brought the idea back to my K team and we proposed it to admin…..I credit and thank Marie Knee for being such a great resource while we worked to fine tune our own staggered start here at FCU> I will check out her blog and work towards implementing student work on The Boucher Bunch Blog. Thanks for spotlighting a local teacher!
